Join a RR
Now you know what a RR is, but what are your responsibilities if you join one ?
Each stitcher must:
Notify the Leader :
at the beginning of the RR:
if you prefer (or dislike ...) to stitch on Aïda, or linen, or evenweave , or other fabric ... say it.
when you've chosen your theme, say it too : it will help the other stitchers to get a head start and to find the charts before they have to stitch on your sampler .
during the RR :
if you move or change job (and if this affects mail or e-mail address ) your Leader need this information as soon as possible .
if
you want to pull out of the group for
whatever reason (temporarily or
definitely), it's best notify your leader
as early as possible, so (s)he can find a
replacement as soon as possible .
Accept to pay for:
stitching supplies: you will buy all material for your own sampler .Usually each stitcher will provide appropriate thread for the sampler they stitch on each month but if you wish to use specific or speciality threads or beads, it may be advisable to buy these and circulate them with your sampler.
price of postage each month : you must be prepared to post out of your own country . If you feel that this may cause a problem, say it to your Leader who, perhaps , can accordingly adjust the rotation .
Stitch ...
Respect the time allowed to mail each sampler .
Notify on the forum when you send and when you receive each sampler .
If you wish, after finishing/framing your sampler, you may like to send photographs to the others in the group (but it's not an obligation).
It would be so nice to send it to AccroStitch too !
Some practicalities:
Preparing
to stitch
Follow your leader's advice.
Your fabric must be large enough to allow space for all
the stitchers !
To keep fabric from fraying, it should be overlocked or
zig-zag stitched .
Measure 2 inches (or 4 if using a frame) from top ,
bottom, left and right side, according to the destination
of your sampler (patchwork...).
Packaging
the samplers :
If you wish to use specific threads or beads it may be
advisable to buy these and circulate them with your
sampler . If you do so, please include sufficient
quantities with any appropriate instructions ; not
everyone has easy access to good needlework suppliers !
Put your sampler in a plastic bag before mailing ( Zip
Lock type bags are good ). You should have your name and
complete address on this bag ( you can also stitch your
name and address on your sampler). The "bubble
wrap" envelopes usually hold up fairly well with
repeated mailings and they are light weight for sending
airmail .
Remember too, that you will need a green customs form if
you are mailing to another country.
Don't forget to enclose with your sampler a letter with
your name and address . It should include any special
instructions and/or threads , beads ... You may wish for
everyone to sign their stitched segment with their name,
or initials, or date ...If so, mention this in your
letter (and remember to allow enough space for this when
you prepare your fabric ).
Mailing the
samplers :
Then, you will post your sampler to the next person on
the list (that you received from your leader).
Now you can notify on the forum that you sent a sampler.
Notify too, when you receive the next sampler.
That way, the leader and the owner of each sampler knows
exactly where her own sampler is located !
If you want to join a RR, look at the Forum .
if you are interested in one of the proposed RR send an e-mail to the leader:
if you want to join but are interested in none of the proposed RR's :
Special
thanks to Rosemary Powell who inspired me to translate the french
version of Accrostitch to English
( a difficult exercise for me ...)
